I just got my first dose of poison oak for the season!

Damn it!!! I've been doing some riding up in Marshall Canyon for the last few weeks and got it BAD!!! I usually get a nice rash at the beginning of spring every year...so, who else has been swipped by the oil?

There around year round in various stages, but they're starting to really come out so be careful where you ride through or hike.

Heal quickly! A friend was hiking with his dog and he got it from petting the dog later because it had run thru PO without him knowing it. He spread it all over himself, including his unit when he peed. <oops!

Go swim in the ocean....or a saltwater pool. It works.

I keep some Fast Orange hand cleaner in the van in case I run into/through PO/PI. It will get the oil off of your skin minimizing the chance for the rash.

Yes...I think I know exactly where I got it too...lol...on my way back down Marshall, just after the section where the horse stables are...there is a tight muddy section where you have to meneuver through some trees...but now that I think about it, I also probably picked up some of the PO oils from my dog's coat also since he is with me most of my afternoon rides. He's a little guy and is always in the car with me on our drives back home.

Keep some Simple Green (or another type of oil remover/degreaser, or something like Technu) in your car with a roll of paper towels. Apply and reapply to the exposed spots after your ride and pad to dry.
