Yes, I am new to this site and also new to the world of mountain biking. About two months ago, I bought an entry level mountain bike with the help of Tim&Sherry (really great people) at Switchback thinking I will just ride around my neighborhood to exercise. Well, it didn’t quite turn out that way as you can tell. I truly enjoy riding in the midst of the nature and love the challenges although I am not an athletic person. I’ve ridden at Peter’s Canyon, Whiting Ranch (crashed), Blackstar (halfway) and El Moro (hiked) so far and they are ALL difficult for me. And I hike the bike a lot! My elbow is injured from the last ride so I won’t be able to ride for another one week, but I hope to join beginner’s level rides with this group soon. Is Fully Loop ride for beginner level? Oh, I am from Irvine~ My husband doesn't ride and it would be nice to have someone to ride with me around here. It gets kind of scary riding alone
:welcome: from Claremont. Two months in and you are already doing some good rides, sounds like you're hooked.
:welcome: Read that you ride alone. Not a good idea. Try to hook up with some people on here who know the trails and will be able to help ya out if ya crash. I have crashed plenty and know it sucks when you're riding alone and have to ride out after a serious crash.
:welcome: from Orange. Fullerton loop is a good beginner, I would stick with Whiting or Peters Canyon though, I think you'll get more out of it.:welcome: ps, I go to switchback and have bought all my bikes there for me and my family (5 bikes). My most recent bike is a Santa Cruz Blur LT. Tim and Sherry are the greatest...
Sunday fully loop is excellent for building your base. Closer to home tough there is a loop through North Tustin/Cowan Heights that you will get a great challenge from. Unlike Peter's or the other county parks you can ride it at night and loop it back to Irvine via the Bike path that parallels the Toll road. Happy Trails:welcome:from Tustin
Welcome! :welcome: Be sure to pm LBMTB and get access to the womens forum..Plenty of good stuff and encouragment in there
Welcome to STR pm mscalepic. She does some beginner rides with some of the girls. I second the idea of not riding alone. Aside from safety, there's too many freaks out there. C
welcome. aliso is a great place to work on your skills, especially if you start at the bottom (off of alicia parkway). let me know if you ever want a tour.
:welcome: from Claremont! Heal fast; check out the Fully Loop; and check the calendar for lots of other rides. Hope to see you on the trails!
:welcome: I am not a newbie. My riding is just sloooow and I enjoy it very much. PM if you want to ride with someone. -Elvia
I think you will have a great time at the loop. You might want to try it in the day time so you know the trail a little better before doing the night loop. But over all it's easy. Start early on thursday with someone who knows the rout. It has a lot of turn offs so it can be confusing you first time alone. :bang:
There are a few of us ladies who ride on Tues evenings, we are a very easy going group who are riding to build our skillset and are just out to be riding our bikes with nothing to prove and having fun doing it. This group is very encouraging and will leave no-one behind. Look on the calander for our every other Tues evening ride! We look forward to meeting and riding with you!
