Hero. It's so dry that anything less then a steady 1/2 inch of rain per hour, will just soak in. - Lloyd
Rode Santiago Oaks-Chutes this morning. Dirt was a little wet in some spots, completely dry in others. The humidity was nuts though!
Rode to top of Old Camp and then back to the Luge. Conditions were perfect at 8 am. Light sprinkle and enough moisture on the trails to keep the dust down, but not enough to stick to the tires. Absolute best conditions I've seen for an August ride. As we were loading up at 10 am the sun peaked out the humidity shot up. What a great ride!
Rode from Dove Canyon to Caspers... The trail was recently scraped, so there were some soft sandy spots, but it was in nice shape. And... I found a geocache that I must have ridden by at least 20 times in the past.
I think there was more moisture in the air than on the ground this morning. There was a 15 foot section on STT that was tacky though... we even thought about going back to session it.
Agreed, that was 15 ft. of awesome! Where was it again? Actually, the dirt in Whiting was kinda weird this morning. Brown Pow that was sort of tacky, but mostly still powdery - like pudding mix that had not yet been stirred. Didn't stick to the bike, didn't provide any better traction, but clearly moist. The sand pit on Borrego was still horrendous. And that humidity!! WTF? Still - great morning ride with Rox, Dave - dcrfx, Charles- OCMoto, plus two of Danimal's friends, and tasty lunch at Wahoos after the show. Fantastico! Neither. But plenty of humidity for everyone!
Yeah humidity was miserable. HAB Crew was going to ride the Loop, the rest of the crew bailed. I think Jack and Tony are mogwais and water turns them into gremlins or something. Humidity is like kryptonite.
You probably bunny-hopped it and missed out. Rox said she was singing "Rain drops keep falling on my head" at the start. Glad I was sweeping and out of ear shot
We might just be getting that right now up by Whiting/Luge. Raining nicely at 7:45pm. BtP: If you're looking for an excuse NOT to ride, sure "it rained enough." But if you want to ride there's almost always someplace to do it. The National Forest rarely closes to bike or foot travel, and STT and San Juan hold up pretty well when wet and dry quickly. And if you don't want to chance leaving any tire grooves, which are usually smoothed out by the next thousand riders, hit Maple Springs. Do Not ride Black Star when wet because it's a muddy mess. There's a fun trail in Turtle Rock I used to ride right after storms, but if you do-- make sure you're not wearing headphones! ;-)
It rained very for for at least an hour up here in the foothills. Marshall Canyon i'm sure got plenty of rain. I drove up Monte Vista to Baldy Rd and kids were riding inflatables in the gutter. So much rain that mud and rocks were all over the road.
That ride was so classic. He turned around after like 5 minutes. He did it again at Rwanda this year. A mile in, little bit of rain, and Brownie tucked tail and ran for cover. Lol
Hero Dirt? Yes! Checking in late. 6 of us rode Exploration Trail yesterday. Epic dirt! Temps aroud 60, Lite rain. Mother Nature was good to us!!
