2x9 Crank-set is a nice design. Saves weight and, for moutain bikers as my self, eliminates an unecessary weight. I use the big ring for cranking fast on flat trail or descending, and the lower ring for cranking up-hill.

I am not sure where the market for this is especially the carbon. I would think the carbon would be a for xc racers and if i was racing I would want 3 rings.

Seriously. I'm not some kind of "Elite-Cat-whatever" guy, and I see NO reason for a granny ring on a XC race bike.

When I was in better shape, I never used the granny ring. Now its my life support. HAHA. Gotta hit the gym.

Also, (inferring) you could train harder & faster because you are pushing your self harder by using a larger climbing-ring; if that makes sense.

I also want to say that it depends on the couse (refering to the carbon crank for racing). Most WC XC race course dont really have any extended long climbs that a professional athlete would need the granny gears.

Ok nevermind, I just noticed the small was 27t not 22t. It looked at first that it was a 2 ring setup with granny and middle, not a big ring and smaller ring.

I run their K-Force Lights (29/44) on my Scott Scale. I have absolutely no complaints other than having to pay attention when I pedal through a rocky section for fear of whacking a crank arm.
