Usually the course is best suited for a lighter am type bike.

My birthday is in July. Anyone know if I race the age I am now, or what I will be in July? Just curious if I am changing letters this year.

I think your race age is what your age will be on Dec, 31, 2009.

So that means ill be stepping up to a higher age bracket?!?! This could be good or bad. It could be good cause I'll be the baby of the group and possibly faster than all the "old" guys. But it could be bad cause if I'm not faster then I lost to a bunch of "old" guys. ha ha ha ha

Yeah I was in the same situation this year. I was 26 in sept and at almost every race I was in a group where I was the only one that could legally drink since it was 19-26. I held my own but it was tough.

This year I'll be 27 so I move up one. I'll be 26 through the bulk of the season so I hop I have a hand up on the older guys.

Can't wait for round #1 going up this weekend to get my 4X practice on . What type of 4X bike do most people ride there hardtail or FS ? My FOX RP3 shock "stuck down" on my Speci SX so I'm getting it "PUSHED" this week and will be riding my p.3 this weekend .

    XC course

The XC course is about 8 miles long.....basically three major climbs and three descents. All the downhill is on skinny single-track with some rocky stuff along the way. Not too much room to pass in certain sections.

Probably the trickiest section is you have to ride down either a steep cement culvert (or the dirt by-pass if its not too rutted....)

How do people ride the DH Course? Do they shuttle up and if yes what is the start point and the place where you park the shuttle vehicle?

Can the DH couse be ridden and practiced on non race day?

    Ive never been to Southridge

    Thanks

You have to hike most of it on non race days. You can park at the end of street and then hike to the top. There is no way to know what course they will use for any given race but you can ride all of them at any time but you just have to hike. The only problem is they are not really marked.

    couple questions:

I wanna try my meddle at a 4x race. if for some reason I get my fork back in time, will I be able to race with a SS bike? or am I going to be required to run gears? asking because I really can't afford a gear setup for my hardtail yet. fwiw, 19-26 beginner for that particular race.

second, who on here is going to be racing 19-26 sport? just curious to know who all I'm up against. know thy enemy I suppose  I know pmortuary was in my class, but I guess he's moving up now.

I had plenty of people with SS in my class last year , sport, and i saw some riders in expert as well. As long as no one complains they dont care. I will be running my riot SS this year for a few reasons, mainly I dont shift on the track most of the time and I dont want to buy more geared parts. If they force us to run gears agian I'll build another 3 speed setup ( fast, faster, fastest)

4x expert for me to bad they don't have age groups guess the kids are gonna hand my a$$ to me again this year. Maybe I'll make a transfer. I'm in over my head but at least I know I'm not sand bagging and its still the funnest sort of racing.

I will be racing 4X again this year. Also, practicing some DH if possible. My DH bike isn't built up yet. Until then I'll race 4X on the Blkmrkt.
