Do they post class run times on Saturday or do you need to be there Sunday AM to find out what time you'll be riding? Any idea what time the last rider will go down? I have to be at Sycamore by 5pm.

DH registration is open through Sunday morning, so the see list with start times is not posted until Sunday mid-morning.

The festivities have been getting over with around 3pm on Sundays.

If the one run "winner take all the glory" format doesn't suit you, the Calstate series is a 2 run format where they combine your times.

If you want to get to Sycamore by 5 you may want to race Sport. You would be with the "O" class and if the turnout is like it has been we start at around 01:25 which puts us at 11:55am start. The drive back up here (Simi area) takes about 1hr10min depending on traffic and which freeway you take. Add another 20min to get to Sycamore.

If you race beginner and there is a large turnout you may not race until 14:00hrs (2pm) or later and if you hit traffic you wont make the 5pm time.

    Course photos

    http://s159.photobucket.com/albums/t149/quixote2001/course%203-20-09/

Winding up top then above the saddle cuts to the left side of the mountain down that section Took took a rock dive (nice one!!) goes way left then cuts back straight across to that rocky dive into the left turn.
Lower garden cuts straight through looks good through there!
Sandy in some of the upper turns and some typical ruts. Have fun be interesting with possible rain mixed in?
Was great seeing Happy Gilmore out there today good to see Chuck doing so well!
    :)

Is that the upper or lower part of bottom rock garden?

Starting from where you enter then a few pics towards the bottom but it's straight through then down the small rockface.

Smoggy as hell for some reason today and Vince was finding lots of old nails on the fireroad I picked one up at the very end of the course.

thanks for the course pics sharky! looks like a fun one actually. there's a few corners that look like they'll suck, but not as bad as some of the ones last race. just a bit off camber/loose.

seems to be a combo of the first and second races, with a few change-ups thrown in.

spots of interest: the left hander leaving the saddle area (of the outside of the righthand sweeper we had last race)

the off-camber new section after the switchback area (even though there's only one switchback this time), and that's about it from what I see. should be good times :)

Thanks for the photos Sharky. It looks like they avoided most of the rocky, ledgy stuff available at the top, for whatever reason. Does the lower rock garden go off the 3' roll/jump/wheelie drop rock at the end like in race #2?

The day started out great, saw Sharky, got a nice hug, the Lady's so sweet I get a tooth ache just talking to her.

Pre-walked the course with Vince, it looks like a good time, nice flow and no rock gardens. When we walked the lower flat pedal sections we noticed allot of 16 penny rusty nails and screws on the ground, we picked hand fulls so be forewarned of this hazard.

As the the day (hike-a-bike) went on we noticed blazing a brush fire on the left side of the course, we call 911 and San Bernardo Fire quickly responded, but did not have a key to open the cul-de-sac gate, so they took bolts cutters to one of the locks, they drove up the rode and controlled the incident. The Fire Department did state that had this been September its likely this would have become a serious brush fire. Just want to say "THANK YOU" to those guys.

Well since the gate was left open, someone no names mentioned nor will there ever be !!!, begin shuttling riders up the hill to the water tower, the gate was left open after all,......well a few hours later Donny and his support team show up.....and yikes that shuttle operation got shut down quick !!, I'm sure that the unknown shuttle driver or drivers would like to apologize for there ignorance of the rules, and throw them selfs a the mercy of the court.

An other warning, rattlesnakes are out we spotted a Large rattler up at the top of the paved rode, keep your eye open.

Looks like this is going to be a great race have fun and ride safe.

RR's should be in a dedicated thread, rather than this one to avoid confusion and having to deal with the first 6 pages of material.
