ps. Yeah the grade @ the beginning really kicks your butt. It's like if you're able to make it past that first steep section the rest is (relatively) easy.

Actually just 2 bad sections - the first entry hill and the hill just past the first left turn. I was totally out of shape last year and jumped into the event on my SS and blew up on the second hill. Too steep to get re-started on the SS.

Hopefully I will do better this year.

Have not been in Whiting this year so far, so I have no clue what to expect for the rut conditions.

Should be interesting and fun.

I got word that it will be GRADED before the event. That's great! STEEP, SOFT, and LOOSE!
I entered the over 200 lb catagory, along with Big Guy. Plus, we both ride 36 lb Kona hill climbing machines. If you put the two of us together with our bikes, you're gonna have around 500 lbs going uphill! I guess that's not as scary as 500 lbs going downhill! It's gonna be a fun ride.

i dont know how it was when i was a grandpa, ill get back to you in 50 years!

"how was it when you were little grampa"

not

"how was it when you were a little grampa"

... I missed the comma, but it doesn't take a genius to figure that one out.
:-s

How many people blow their breakfast/lunch while doing this race against the clock?!?!?! I've seen a few people heave once they've reached 4-Corners, yuck!

I'm thinking of putting my finger down my throat at the start line so I don't have to stop on the way up. That's one place gravity's not on my side for sure...
