Crewing at the auto races

So the past two weekends I spent wrenching on a few race cars up at Laguna Seca. I'm very fortunate to have nice cars to work on.

1983 Williams F1 (actual race car that won the Monoco Grand Prix drivin by Keke Rosberg)

1972 Porsche 2500cc RSR (with the factory magnesium intakes)

Chevron B36 (2L Hart 4cyl)

Erich is in group 3B car #1, group 4B car #12, group 8B "Wiesach Cup" car #48 Erich won the race in this group.

Cool that you get to do that Brownie, and hoping you get paid something (a trip around the track in the Williams or RSR would be worth it!). Having worked at mazda a number of years I know their sponsorship of the track and trying to get good races in there was a big thing. Great to see the enthusiasm carrying on.

The crew gets taken care of better than most I believe. We had ocean front hotel rooms, all meals paid for, and I get to invoice him for my time...no complaints at all on that end. Some of the other race cars in the quiver are a 90's Bryan Herta Indy Car, original Shelby Cobra 427, Lola B2K/40, 2011 Porsche RSR, and a few others I can't remember at the moment.
