    What they said.

If yesterday was any indication, this chump has a lot of training to do. My legs are still pretty worked, and that was what, barely 1/2 the course?

    Yikes.

If you stopped at Silverado (Yellow dot on profile), it was closer to 1/3 the course.

Good catch. I mistakenly counted the mileage back to the cars at Blackstar.

    Damn.

I think you guys did the worst part of it though. For some reason, Mapple Springs to the Peak doesn't seem quite as bad as the trail between Beaks and Motorway....but, that is just my opinion

I agree. Beaks to Maple Springs is a world of pain. Although it was only when I hit the dirt section of Maple Springs that I got cramp in jsut about every leg muscle - then I really discovered what pain was! LOL!

Personally I can't decide whether to try and beat my '06 CC time or give the VQ a go:-k

See for me the worst part is the paved road from maple springs. That road kicks my ass every freaking time.

I second that! I completely despise that section of pavement.

I'll see everyone out there. I'm signed up for the VQ.

I'm still thinking about signing up....maybe when it's full I'll decide (heeheeh). After all, it was so much more fun to volunteer out on the trail. :)

Just a reminder to all that signed up online to keep an eye on your credit card activity. I know of 3 people (myself included) that have had credit card numbers stolen after using Active.com to sign up for mtn biking events....in case you're a pessimist, one of them had only used their stolen credit card number that one time...

My card (MBNA) has the ShopSafe feature. For each online transaction I create a new card number with credit equal to the charge +$1. The number can only be used at that merchant and with the remaining credit on the card.
It's also handy for trial subscriptions - there's no credit remaining for those who try to charge you for yet another year. So I get automatic cancellation.

If you are doing the ride and wonder what we did to prep last year, check out this old thread...http://socaltrailriders.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1870

Good Luck on the death march. I'm out due to a new baby coming into my world around then. I used everything on that ride except contacts, duct trape and toilet paper! I'd take less food since warriors do a great job at re-fuel stops...just take water a gu's

Hey J, thought training didn't start until November?!?!? What were you and Suzanne doing on Blackstar yesterday? Trying to get a jump on the rest of us??? (heeheeh)

After riding yesterday, and considering that I still have a bit of time to train (thank God), I think I'll sign up for the CC (just to beat my old time).

You guys have to stop calling it the Death March, my little brain confuses that with the Death Ride.
