Completely agree. At this point, I have no moral objections to riding somewhere that is closed simply due to the whim of a politician. Were it a real concern, i.e. the whole post-fire thing, then it becomes questionable. In this case, to me, there is no question.

Damn, this made me angry today.

    close open land...oxymoron.
and politicians are just morons. Sacramento to D.C. there is no common sense
is there anything in the constitution to remove jack asses? F**K!

morality and riding have nothing to do with each other as there are plenty of immoral people that ride bikes

Lay off the rangers, issue handgun permits to the Mtn Bikers and that should solve the problem... no motos, self policing single track...

Your analysis is spot on. They engage in wild schemes they can't support, then extort money from us by withholding that which is already ours.

The hills were a fun destination long before the state took it for themselves, and honestly, the only thing that has changed is the road is now regularly graded and there are a few buildings and a drinking fountain. Whoopie.

The only control they have over us is denying access to the park. If they sent the ranger home and turned off the drinking fountain, no one would care.

Tell you what, if they close the park, I'll claim it as my own and rename it Robbie Hills Park. The ranger that we see once a year will be there less often, and the state won't be able to afford to buy him a ticket book anyway.

You can be the Trail Czar, in charge of thanking all the volunteers. Our motto will be "No trailworker shall be denied!"

the bad is that others may claim it as their own too and turn it into a giant pot farm or worse - suburban residential complex.

OK guys, discuss solution, bitch about the politicians, ask why, whatever, but anymore talk about poaching it IF it closes will get deleted.

Thanks Jeff, but we went in from the OC side/Carbon Canyon and I rode with the newbs up Telegraph to 4 corners and back, all fire road. Ya, most would say I've never "ridden" Chino Hills.

I don't know all the details regarding the state park closures. It will be interesting to see if anything gets closed at all.

If they do close these parks, I'm pretty certain we would still have pedestrian and mountain bike access. I believe they would simply shut down the car access, parking and car camping areas and other camp sites. Showers, toilets and pit toilets would be locked. I'm sure that trash services would be halted too.

So if you simply walked, hiked thru or rode through the closed park it wouldn't be a problem. Kind of like when they closed Switzers, it was closed to cars & you could hike and bike and have a picnic, but you couldn't drive into the picnic site. And you had to pack your trash out. No one got tickets.

    ....Kind of like Crystal Lake
....Kiind of like Chantry(when it was closed)
....Kind of like(fill in the blank)

Switzers closure is not the same as the suggested State Park closures. We'll just have to see how this all shakes out.

If go to the center a few dollars, if you are over 60 a donation, if you work the kitchen meal is free. Or meals on wheels two meals per day delivered to your home for $7. Why do I know so much about this? My mother used to run the meals on wheels program in Laguna Niguel.

I guess there will a rise in poaching trails....

    easy people.....just a little humor.....

OOPS....after Gene's no poaching post...but come we should get a 24 hours stay of execution on this one to blow off some steam.....

I don't think it will happen but it (the whole mess) does irritate me.

My biatch: my daughter's school is laying off the bright, fresh teachers with new ideas and an enthusiasm for teaching because they've been at the school for less than 2 yrs. What will happen to all those classes? Combined and shoved in with others? They're already overcrowded. :(

Biatch #2: according to the state, for purposes of property tax, my house has increased in value $100,000 in the last year (we've only owned it for a year). Really? With all the foreclosures, my property is magically worth MORE?

You're right. The State screws the pupils and spends the money on teachers.

    Rankings

    Average Teacher Salary Rank: 1st
    Starting Teacher Salary Rank: 9th
    Salary raise last year: 3.9%
Salary raise over 10 years: 41.6%

It should be pay cuts and LONGER work weeks for all salaried personel.
    More work, lower cost...
Thats what they did to keep the doors open at my work.
All salaried persnel got pay cuts and an additonal 16-20 hrs work per month.

They said that if you didn't agree, there would be a 30 day grace period for you to look for other employement.

    Guess what? no one left....

You made improvements or the house is worth $5 million? You can file a Decline-in-Value Reassessment Application if you can show it's worth less.
