Nasty. Ben Cruz is just coming off some pretty serious injuries from last year. Racing these tracks virtually blind can lead to some gnarly crashes. Looks like his rear wheel caught the edge of the trail and kicked out rather violently. Correction: reports are he clipped a pedal causing that violent series of events. Broke his back protector in the ensuing cartwheel.
For this race, they were required to pre-ride each downhill once. They could go as slow as they wanted for inspection, but could not stop to properly inspect or re-ride a section. Then it was back to the lift and race down it for 9-10 mins. They will be racing over 30,000 vertical feet in six stages yesterday and today. Yeti boy Jared Graves is in the lead after the first three stages yesterday.
Ben Cruz was listed as DNF on stage 3. Looks like he might have gotten himself injured in the crash above. #-o

Going Slideways!!!!
Played it 3 times in a row. The crash looks really painful but could have been worse had he broke his arm trying to break the fall.
