How much of a problem is it when chain suck causes rubbing/abrasion on an aluminum and carbon chainstay?

This is happening on a new Felt Virtue 3 after one ride. Is a jammable gap (for the chain) between the chainring and the chainstay a design flaw, or just kind of normal?

Thanks!

I've seen it happen on lots of different bikes. I'd be more concerned on a carbon piece, if you eat through the resin to expose the fibers it won't be good. If it keeps doing it or causes problems consider one of these: http://www.socaltrailriders.org/for...ide-4-week-update.html?highlight=supershuttle. It has worked really well for me so far.
