I'd like to come and meet some STR folk... however I'll be house/dog sitting for the weekend. Does anyone know if pets are allowed? The owners are OK with me being gone so long as I take the dog with me.

The dog is accustomed to me but I'm not sure it'd be a good idea to bring it to such a large group in a new area. She's a 1.5 year old Weimaraner and is extremely energetic/curious. Guess I'll have to play it by ear!

EDIT: Just saw the dog in Hugh's pic...guess it's allowed...

Yes, Pets are allowed. Required to be leashed at all times. Unless you can leave the dog with others at camp, it may be hard for you to ride.

High tide or low tide? Low tide your more likely to see cool stuff like starfish and sea anenmemonmeys.

Sycamore campground is relatively small. If you drove thru on the one way road it would be hard to miss a large STR group.

If there's enough riders, we could probably have an A group and B group ride on each day. I'd be more than happy to lead one of the A group rides! This is practically my backyard.

Thanks Upchuck, we can work something out. I'll be in touch.
I went to Sycamore today to do a quickie ride and check out some sites.
FYI, you cannot get sites in advance, only that day. So Quinn and I will be there before noon and I think we can get people's reservation numbers and get sites close together. Sites 24 thru 32 I thought were pretty nice.
Quinn likes 16 but that had a skunk den on it. :?:
    Bring wood for sure!
    Bring food
Bring a change of riding shoes (water in some stream crossings)
    Bring night lights!
People that are thinking about going but have yet to get a site should do so soon.
I found out that each site takes 8 people but only allows 2 tents. So if you have a spot and can let a fellow STR bud on your property that'd be great.I have 2 spots/4 tents.
Can I have a roll call on who has a site already?
Don't forget rain cancels. I know this is a risky time to set up a camp trip but..oh well!

I made our reservations. I think we'll have 3 cars and possibly 5 people. Thanks for the heads up on the tent situation we might have to make adjustments. Can't wait!!

You left off Hidden Pond and Coyote trails. And there's an unnamed path ----

Last time I looked Serrano was closed to bikes.

no idea, just downloaded most of the gpx data from that ventura county trails website.

my campsite will probably be full, 8 people. do they really enforce the 2 tents per site? because im sure my group will have atleast 3. all the campgrounds i've visited in the last year (about 10) didn't enforce it at all. just curious..

    I HOPE IT DOESN"T RAIN!:drunk:

quick quesiton regarding parking. i know your allowed 3 cars per reservation but, are there 3 spots at the actual campsite? or does one or two of them have to be parked at the overflow parking lot?

Wish I could answer all your questions but I really don't know. Google Pt. Magu state park. I called a ranger there a few months ago. It would be an 805 number.

There is enough room for 3 cars per site. A car w/ trailer counts as two cars. In my past experience, the rangers do enforce parking. The extra cars will have to be parked in the overflow lot.
