best way to ship bike to spain?

i have an interested buyer for one of my bikes but he live in spain. anyone ever ship a bike overseas? who did you use? where is the best place to get a box/ packing materials for a bike? do you remember what it cost?

Best way is USPS. But make sure all oversea buyer's paypal rating and don't use anything but Paypal with confirmed address so you qualify for the seller protection program. Insurance is a must also.

As for boxes most bike shop throw away tons of frame/bike boxes so just ask. Path has them in their parking lot at the corner.

The cost is high, the frame box should be around 80-100 and the wheel box would cost around 40-60.

I actually sold one of my bikes to a guy in Spain. Look up on USPS the box size limit for SPAIN!! it is smaller that here. I had to cut down a regular box bike to get it to work and use some real creative packaging but USPS was over $200 dollars cheaper than any other carrier.

Oh yea.. duke gave some good advise as well. I also made the agreement with the buyer that I would not ship it till the funds were in my bank account not just my PP account.

+1^ to that. I shipped a bike to Italy and USPS was much cheaper but box had to be smaller

Shipped my old Turner XCE frame to a guy in Spain using USPS. I think it was around $70. and like the other guy said, check box size.
