Best route from Temecula to Hurky Creek?

Google suggests either taking the 79 to the 371 to the 74 going through Thomas Mountain or taking the 79 north to Hemet and then the 74 through mountain center depending on if I move the destination a few pixels this way or that. Any Temeculites have any suggestions on which route is better/faster? They appear to both be about 45 miles.

Take the 79 to the 371 to the 74. Have taken most options and this is IMHO by far the quickest. No switchback highway climbing the face of the mountain, just long strait aways and sweeping highway speed turns. Going up you do not realize how much elevation you are gaining until you return home and realize that the car is almost rolling home driven by gravity. Again IMHO! Have fun
