Best MTB Storage Solutions???

Wife says I NEED to get organized for Spring! Instead of having bikes all over the place. Haha. That's a good reason for more bikes! More space = more bikes right?

I ended up purchasing a Kobalt K Rail (Lowes) w/bike hook ~$35 and a Rubbermaid Fast Track (Home Depot) w/bike hook ~$45 .

Why did I purchase two different products that basically accomplish the same thing? Because I was confused! LOL.

Now that I finished installing both of them I can tell you that the Rubbermaid Fast Track is WAY better than the Kobalt K Rail. The Fast Track has a larger hook that is more 650b, 29er friendly whereas the K Rail MTB hook is tight as f#$K barely fits a 26er 2.35 tyre.

What other innovative storage solutions are people using to store their bikes?

I use the rubber maid fast track in my garage, but the system is kind of expensive.

Hooks in the wall studs has always worked well for me. It's cheap but may not offer the flexibility of the rail setups if the spacing of those can be adjusted.

I use a couple of feet of gas pipe, secure to the garage roof studs with a short section of chain. $10 for 2 bikes.

A MTB friend told me once that you should hang a suspension bike from a hook. Is there any truth to that? I have a FS bike and would like to hang it to get it out of the way.

Vertical, horizontal, or upside down? My FS hangs on the wall horizontal. My hardtail hangs vertically from the back wheel. I don't think I would hang an FS upside down from the ceiling, but that's based more on a feeling than actual facts. It might be fine, and it might even be better because the shock seals would get some oil to keep them from drying out.

I'm currently storing six bikes in my two-car garage (seven if you count the mostly disassembled Schwinn Varsity), and most of the time we can park two cars in there as well (if we can't it's not because of the bikes). Three mountain bikes, a road bike, my son's hardtail 27.5 MTB and my wife's Townie cruiser. I use the Rubbermaid system for several of them - one hanging horizontally, two vertically. In the center of the garage I have a Feedback stand (https://www.feedbacksports.com/shop/velo-cache-black/) that can hold two bikes. My son's bike sits on the floor using one of these: https://www.feedbacksports.com/shop/rakk-black/.

I really like Feedback's stuff, and they make a lot of stuff that you can attach straight to the wall - both horizontal hangers and hooks that can swing so the bike hangs more flush with the wall. They also have a bar that can raise and lower, designed to hang the nose of the saddle. They also recently acquired Scorpion bike stands , of which I'm a fan. They're stuff's not cheap, but it's often on sale at REI.
