Anyone have exp w/ Solar Chargers

Beats me, usually I get by up there with a couple old maps from the 50s and a compass. But the maps finally disintegrated, and the others convinced me to try whatever system it is they've got there. I figured I'd bring it as a backup. I ordered a powerfilm. ...but if I've got to babysit the gps the whole time, i'll probably just grab new maps instead. Arriving in Atikokan tomorrow for staging, thanks for the info everybody.

Made it. A few spectacular close calls due to deteriorating ice formations from an unexpected sunshine blast that sent temps up from the -30 to -50 range to around freezing for a few days, but all in all, a great expedition. Wound up rendevouzing in Yellowknife, NT. Will do Nunavut next year. I'll process pics & vids this weekend & post somethin here.

Didn't use their GPS system afterall. There's no tech like low-tech, baby. Thanks again for everyones tips in this thread.

Looking forward to hearing about this trip!

I just ordered this product from Amazon.com. Not sure if it will work, but it's pretty inexpensive, so I am taking my chances.

Will try to use it this Saturday on the Path SART ride. It will be a long strenuous ride, but hopefully it will keep my phone battery charged up enough to record the whole trip on Strava.com and also allow me to take some pics.

Its a battery and solar cell or just sucks power from the sun and puts it somewhere else? looks cool
