Any riding by Guajome Regional Park/Lake?

I'm going to be looking at some houses around Guajome Regional Park off the 76 in Vista and wanted to find out what type of riding is available nearby.

I've heard the San Luis Rey river trail is good for road cycling. What about MTBing? Is there any local stuff nearby? What weekend rides are close? I'm guessing the Palomar mts are the ones off the 76 inland a ways

I don't know of any trails at the park but there are plenty of rides in North San Diego County. Mountain Bike Bill's site will give you the full run down. Good luck house hunting.

When I first started riding, I used to hit up that park - but it's been over 10 years since I've ridden there. I suspect it's at least 90% fire road. Not bad I guess if you're looking to get a quick after work ride if you live nearby, but certainly not worth a trip.

In that area you do have quick access to the 78/15 which will take you to Daley Ranch, Hodges and Elfin Forest in Escondido area. Also, your close to Calevaras, and my local favorite La Costa.

I don't have that park on my site, but there is a network of trails at the park. Maybe 4 miles total if you hit everything. There is a some farmland/open space nearby that can be linked up to gain some extra mileage. The park is good if you live nearby and are looking to get in some excercise. I have friends who do this every morning before work.

The park is an excellent place to introduce kids into mountain biking. There is scenery, wetlands, ducks, some sandy spots, bridges and sizable enough hills to challenge them as they progress. It is really not a destination however.
