Announcing the launch of BicycleMob.com – There’s Power in Numbers.

If you buy it at $100, and the price drops to $60, you pay the lower price of $60. Everyone winds up paying the same amount

I think we all understand that. The point is why are people "willing" to pay more up front (by committing to buy at "x" price) not knowing what the final price will be? A 10-20% discount is hardly a discount nowadays with all the price wars and online deals.

I gotcha

Maybe a better way is to offer an item at the lowest price-point, however the orders would only be processed if X people have ordered by the end of the day. If not, then the person has the option of ordering at the next highest price or cancelling the order altogether.

Great concept! I agree the items need to really step up.

Also talk to your tech guys and have them fix your DNS pointers, they should be *wildcarded for browsers that don't support non-www

I for one am not going to buy any item until the lowest price has been reached. Who are the guys willing to pay more? I fore see a quick end or a big change.

Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming. Sorry I missed your question, for some reason STR did not notify me of updates to this thread.

To be clear, no one "pays more". When the deal is over, everyone pays the same price. If you completed checkout and reserved stock for your order at $60, and the price falls to $50 as more people join in, you'll only pay $50, not $60.

In that circumstance, we think you're going to find that $60 is already going to be a super deal, and you'll also be incentivized to bring in others to drive it down to $50. If that didn't happen, you'd still be getting a great deal at $60.

Thanks!

Wow, that sorta came out of nowhere. They never posted anything really exciting or useful in the last couple of months. It always felt like they were using the Mob to showcase old and forgotten items that Jenson couldnt sale normally.
