Got out of work early yesterday so I had an extra hour before the wife and kids got home and family duties started. The sun had just come out from behind the clouds so it was a perfect oprotunity for an after work ride. I started from home and figured I would hit the trails by my house.
Started at the Forester Ranch Ridgeline Trailhead
The last time I was out here the weeds were 8 feet tall and the fireroads were starting to feel like singletrack. Today I found wide smooth trails.
After a brief climb, I headed down the Prima Deshecha trail that took me into Talega in San Clemente.
I took a short cut through the neighborhood to save some time and climbed up to one of the watertowers on the perimeter of Talega. From there I rode the Chistianitos Trail around Talega.
There are a bunch of these small bridges along the downhill part of the trail. I stopped to take a picture of two of them but I wasn't going to stop to take a picutre of them all. The trail almost disappears in some areas between the bridges but it's easy enough to find and follow.
After crossing about a dozen bridges while descending, I took another shortcut through the neighborhood and ended up at another Forester Ranch Ridgeline Trailhead.
Up I go....
From the top of that climb it was almost all down hill to the trail head where I started and then just a quick pedal home. It was a good quick ride and I arrived home in a great mood. Also I found a Clif Bar in my Camelbak that I pick up at a bike demo a couple of weeks ago. White Chocolate and Macadamia Nut. I stopped about half way through to eat it and it may have been the highlight of my ride. It tasted like a cookie and was smaller than a regular size Clif Bar. Maybe it was a sample size but it hit the spot. I think I'll head to the store to get another.
