Well last Saturday at the racersandchasers.com Spring Shootout Finale I went down, hard. About 4 miles into the 8 mile course Robert put in an option, left is fireroad, right was the jump section. Feeling froggy I went right, htit the first jump and didn't land quite right. Too much weight forward, didn't pull up on the bars and next thing you know, I'm on the ground sore, smashed helmet, and a little disoriented. After a couple seconds I sat up looked at my helmet, it was done, and then started looking for my buddie's go pro. We eventually found it and I headed back to the pits. I found a spare helmet and kept going, about a mile later I called it. Came back in, bruise on my back, scraped up knee, semi-large bump on the head from the Helmet hitting my skull, and my shouler and wrist were sore.

After I got home, washed up and headed to the ER to get my head checked out. They ok'd my bump, x-rayed my wrist and said it was just a sprain, then told me to follow up with my normal medical on Moday to treat the wrist. Went in Monday and they found a fracture in my Scaphoid bone. After almost a full day in Orthopaedics, the Docs decided to put a bone graft and screw in.

Now I'm sitting here a week later in a plaster splint, screw in my wrist and a cast coming soon and will be with me for 3 months. I'll off the trails till Sept at the earliest. But not off the bike altogether, S/S on the local bike paths and Road Bike on the trainer are a-ok.

So after the long write up, here's a shot of the Helmet and the vid of the crash. BTW, I had to type this whole damn thing with one hand, lol.

Vid!

Finally got the splint off. Now I have a much lighter and more maneuverable cast. I'll be in this cast for a month followed by another follow up and cast.

Here's some pics of the carnage.

Wow, that looks a helluva lot like the spill I took on Lynx a month ago. Except much worse. From the video it sounds like you got the wind knocked out of you pretty good.

Heal up quick!

Thanks guys. I'm in the cast but I've been out on my new S/S Road rig and got the Road Bike on the Trainer. But it will be atleast till the fall when I can get back on the dirt.
