Yeterday on our ride to Newpport, well actually on teh way back, on of the other riders commented on my Mohawk I was growing..... Seems my helemt was coming apart, soooooo, Just got back from the shop, and I am sad to say, I am hanging up my Giro helmet, Been alot of good days with this helmet, just glad its went south from wearing too much, not using it too much.

So, going from a Giro switchblade, I am now a proud owner of a SPecialized Proporo Road helmet. Man all I can say is Damn technology has come a very long way in helmets since I bought the Switchblade!!!!! Hopefully This one will ast just as long, and find its demise in the same fashion. I like the idea I didnt need to replace the helmet due to a crash.

I still have my beaten up old switchblade too... they were the best of their time! I still miss being able to bolt on the chinguard at the top of a climb.

Does anyone know why they stopped making those? I actually was looking for a portable helmet like the switchblade and noticed they don't make it any more. I wonder if it was due to failure and lawsuits.

Have fun in D-Ville!

Mainly because it didnt sell very well. There has always been Much better and lighter FF helmets out there, the Switchblade really was just a confidence builder, it didnt really protect your face as well as a FF should. I ran mine about one season, after that I just bought a proper FF, took the face guard off, and I used it for XC, got into road, took the visor off.

I got mine back in the day, when they were popular. Sent alot back due to the threaded part of the helmet for the faceguard coming apart. It really was a cool idea, but alas, it needed improvement that noone really wanted to do.

At least the new one is quite comfy!!!
