I was curious about the source of the data, so I clicked on the source button. The web page that popped up indicated that the World Clock was updated July 2010, which leads me to believe that those numbers are estimated averages, making the clock nothing more than entertaining at best. EDIT: The source button indicates that the information was updated in July 2010, and the help button basically indicates that the info is just a guestimate.

I couldn't update this post as after opening the link from the source button, my Internet Explorer kept locking up, even after several reboots.

Interesting... entertaining... thought provoking...

It would be very complex / expensive to have that clock tied into real-time data but the averages (i.e. one car stolen every minute) get the point across.

I'm trying to imagine a clock depicting positive data. What would it contain? Hugs? Smiles? Compliments? Miles ridden by bike? Trees planted? Miles of multi-use trails created?... It seems that even birth is a negative in this overly populated, resource stretched world we live in. It would be nice to see a positive clock. Or maybe it could be a sliding scale (trees planted vs. rain forest destroyed).

First idea: Green energy generated. I just walked out in my garage, and even on a completely dark, cloudy and rainy day my solar panels are still generating 112 watts of electricity

I call 'em like I see 'em. One post responding to a lie that was created just to cause drama, does not make me a pessimist... If you met me on the trails in real life, you'd think I was optimistic to the point of annoyance

On the positive side, it looks like spam e-mails will eventually out-pace national debt
