Ok... in 7 pages of posts, THAT is by far the best! Bwhahahahaha! That WS guy even looks a little like Chris. Without the hair.

Seriously though - this is The Traverse, baby. I see no "Beginner-Artist" categories on the registration form. :p

Really? This race isn't beginner friendly? What have I gotten myself into.

I've rocked this race a few times before, as well as the CC. I'm no stranger to Upper HJ. I'm simply being satirical.

I'm also just pissed about my luck. I seem to have come down with this bad, sore-throat based cold that's been going around. I now have a whole-body fatigue and dont think I can shake it in time for Saturday. We'll have to see what dayquill can do, but I have a feeling that the second half of the race is going to kill me bigtime.

That's hilarious Mojo, thanks for the laughs.

This is supposed to be my first go at this thing and I just picked up a slot at the end of the transfer window, then came down with that crud last saturday. Four nights of fever, heavy fatigue, and now lingering chest congestion. I'll make my decision tomorrow night whether I'll give it a go or not.

Ouch, something must be going on around Temecula. I have something similar. At least now I have an excuse to go slow :)

Yes, it seems the same thing has been going around in Irvine as well. The people that have it sound awful with the lingering crud in their system.

I would suggest to upload on Vit-C , Echinacea, and Garlic. Your immune system has been compromised! Now the body defense system is going to spend energy on seeking and killing the "Bug". It would be a bad idea to do this race if you are experiencing shakes, chills and fever. Trust me you will be in "BED" the next day if not sooner.

I did the inaugural Traverse (I think it was 2007). UHJ was not part of the original course.

The Geoladders course shows UHJ.....when we first mapped the course, the intent was to include UHJ. So that is how it got mapped on the GPS.

We have not included UHJ in any of the years on the Traverse. It was supposed to be something new for this year. However due to the lack of personell and radio operators, we don't have enough people to safetly cover/sweep UHJ.

So for the last time, the Geoladders route is wrong.....this should put it to rest.

Well, vitamin C might not do much. But as long as I an physically pull myself out of bed, I'm going to the race. I've been putting in extra saddle time for far too long, in anticipation of this race, to let a bug get to me. I'll deal with the aftermath... (famous last words)

To those of you with this illness, I would recommend going and getting azithromycin from your doctor. Also known as "Z-pack" antibiotics. I started on them yesterday (after witnessing much green hacking up from the lungs as well as out the nose), and I think it helped break my fever. I feel better today, though not 100%. I definitely feel better knowing that I'll have some immune system backup for when I break my body down on saturday. Hopefully the relapse dip will be short, not a full blown recycle.

I think the sore throat thing may have been viral (seemed to be highly contagious) but you get superinfected on top of that after a few days. So while it wont knock out your sickness from the start, it will tidy up the residual infection left behind. (green phleghm, fevers, etc.)

I am not finding a registered racers list on Active.com like on Sportsbase,. That is where we registered right? Its been a long time I don't remember and can't find my confirmation email. Just want to be sure I am in fact registered before I drive all the way out there.
Yeah I know kind of stupid but don't want to waste my time....

I'd like it to be just a tad warmer... one of the defining characteristics of the Traverse.

I think WS is going to put out propane space heaters for "the wall" before Trabuco, just to make it familiar.

We don't need to do that. It could be 50 degrees on the Main Divide until you hit the wall.....where it always feels like it is 120 degrees.

Anyone have a good guess what the weather will be like. I see the high is suppose to be 63 at Irvine Lake. How much cooler will it get at the higher elevations?

See my update 3 posts above yours
    ;-) Temps for tomorrow

I don't think the temps will be any difference at higher elevations because by the time you get high enough, it'll be later in the dayah and probably hotter than when we started. You could always carry a wind breaker if you think you'll need it.

    Here's the latest
