Is the course or trail pretty easy to find? Thinking about checking it out next Monday or Tuesday.

I believe it is only accessible during race day as the land is owned by Irvine Lake and closed to biking generally.

I posted a pic with the course above, but for some reason, I don't think it was showing previously. I think it is fixed now, so you can see the track superimposed over aerial photos.

Pre-Riding the course prior to race day is PROHIBITED! The lake is on private property and not open for riding (but is open for fishing and camping, doesn't hurt to help the venue even if we're not biking there). If people start riding when they're not suppose to there is a really good chance that we'll loose the venue! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT PRE-RIDE!!!!

Maybe others can shine in on this but I think the course best resembles Fullerton Loop/Peter's Canyon. So if you want to train for it, the loop might actually be the best place to train for it. Lots of short climbs and short decents. Get use to riding on some loose stuff (like at Peter's) also since there are a few turns that are on loose sand (I slipped on it 4x last year!!!!!!). The singletrack decent from Peter's will help a lot too as there are a few sections that resembles that (but definitely not as hard).

-Registration opens tomorrow April 10 on the new website.

-All 12 races = $20 a race same price as last year ($240=season) / same price as last year. (9 races count towards series points / throw out 3)

See you Saturday at 50 Mile Ride John and I will be at the OTH table. -Matt

I haven't done a regular race in a few years, but am considering trying one or more of these. The usual conundrum is whether to race with the much younger women, or the slightly younger men. Nobody has an age group for me! Oh, well, it's kinda fun being an anomaly.

Doris, what you will find is that most local race series have been combining the Women's groups into an "Open Category" (no age groups) because there are so few women who race on a regular basis. At Fontana, Donny has been doing 34- and 35+ for XC and Open for DH and 4x. Even Sea Otter is now doing Open for DS and DH this year. My competitors are from 15 to 34!!!!

Women’s Beginner All ages 2 Laps
Women’s Sport All ages 3 Laps
Women’s Expert All ages 4 Laps
Women’s Pro All ages 4 Laps

Have you checked the results from last year?

I've signed up! I'm only committed to the first race, but if I don't die and drag in dead last, I'll do it every week thereafter.

    Doris,
I hope you do make at least one race; but you might disapoint a friend of mine. :) She was very happy to be the oldest woman out there last year at only 55. I'm pretty sure she'll be there a few times this year and will probably be happy enough to be second oldest.

Yes, I have. That's what I meant by having to decide whether to race with the men or the women.:-k Sometimes I would rather race my age than my gender.

I applaud you for racing with the young ones and doing so well!

Crazygramma, looking forward to having you race. You'll be in good company, and if the Women's cats get broader we will break by age groups. There's a large number of guys that you would give a run for there $.

Registration's hot & there's six weeks to get in race shape minhster ;) . see you out there.

It looks like there will be at least one course change according to the official over-the-hump email -- we will be crossing a floating bridge instead of the land bridge! I wonder what other trail changes will be required with the high water?!?

    Trail Building - Thurs May 6th 5:30pm

First Race is in 3 weeks!

Help Trail Building - Thurs May 6th 5:30pm

The lake water leves are extremely high, so we need some serious course work! Can you come out and help us build the course on Thursday Evening? Last year's trail build nights were a lot of fun. Come hang out, meet some new friends and be a part of building the course you'll race on. Please email [email protected] if you can help. We'll meet at the tackle shop at the lake at 5:30pm on Thursday, May 6th. Please bring gloves, shovels, etc.

    Has anyone seen "The Bridge?"

Last year there was a dirt path across the lake about half way through the course. This year there is a floating bridge.

You have to think at least one racer is going in the water this summer!

Will this be the first Mountain Bike race in history to race across a 500 ft floating bridge? The land bridge that ran across the lake last year is UNDER WATER. This is going to be fun!

That jersey looks kinda funny, pockets with what looks like a front graphic?

Maybe racers will be needing these?

Any reports from someone who assisted in the Trail Building? I think they would have to route around the bottleneck portion because the water is too high. It would be very soggy if they tried to use that single track portion after the drop.
