kids will be kids....I have built the berm up to be a bit safer for the guys racing, the berm is a lot steeper and there is a little more room and the boulders that were in the braking area have been covered....as for the kids jumping there are some boulders now placed in the edge of the landing so we will see if it stops them?

Why do they think they deserve $5 for a "shuttle fee" when it is walk-up only Friday?

Rondo, the signing of the waiver and the wristband is an insurance regulation. Every participant is required to have one. This became necessary after a number of unregistered/non racers were injured while riding the course.

Also note that the Friday fee is $5 and the Saturday fee is $8.

This is posted on the bottom of the Southridge web site.

Attention ALL Down Hill Racers!!! No one will be allowed on the hill to practice without a wrist band. This goes for walking your bike or if you drive to the gate and walk up. Regardless on race days everyone must have a wrist band.

So are they charging or just making you sign the waiver?

They are charging $5 to provide no service and allow you to ride in a public place.

I never looked at the reg form, only the schedule.

I guess that answers the question if I wanted to rush home for airport, battle traffic to Fontana to practice. The $5 for 2 hours the stray that broke the camels back for me.

    First Aid?????

FYI, For those of you who have never raced DH anywhere but Fontana, having only a few hours of practice at an event (i.e. USAC Sanctioned DH races like Sea Otter and venues no longer in use like Northstar, Snow Summit, etc.) is the norm. That's why there are multiple days of practice. Yes, it sucks compared to our all day free-for-all practice for SRC races, but it's not the norm. I need ta educate you guys!!!!;)

P.S. We are darn lucky to have a venue where no racing license is required and the entry fees are low!!!!

Case in point, here is the Sea Otter DH schedule

I just looked at the Cat 2/3 XC course on Geoladders. I will not be able to pre-ride. Is there anything notable on the course? What kind of soil/terrain/features? Any advice on strategy?

I realize that you dont always get all day to practice but paying $5 for 2 hours when I paid $7 for all day just a few weeks ago seems hard to swallow.

Just because it's a little confusing....I don't intend to practice DH on friday, but I would like to walk the course, do I need a wristband for that? Also, it appears that you have to buy a wristband both days? Or is it that it's 5 bucks if you buy Friday and you're good for the weekend? Or is it 5 for Friday AND 8 for Sat.? I'm confused.....but I'll be there anyway, no whining about the cost from me! Can't miss it this year (no wedding to attend this year!).

It appears that the fee is per day:

    Downhill Shuttle Fee - FRI-$5 (Walk Up/Must Have Wristband) / SAT- $8.00 / SUN - FREE

If you are walking only and not "riding a bike" you do not have to pay! However it is possible that they will not allow walking on the course during practice time. These are all questions that need to be asked of Donny, however he does not answer email from Thursday on, on race weekend. :-(

You could try calling (951) 361-0149

If anyone finds out that we can walk course on fri please post it. I may see if I can get there to walk the course. Then I can skip going to LB for bike and stuff and may be able to make it with reasonable traffic
