They look great to me. I'm just glad someone got a picture of me out there so I can prove I really was riding. (#69 on second set with tag 479, ended up 1st in B4) Thanks a ton for doing this!

    Gene,

You better kick ass. If I was running in the Sport 40-49 class, my time (54:10) would have gotten me a 5th Place.

I plan on it. A couple days before the race, Danielle ask me on FB what a good time would be. I figured sub 50 to podium for sport. Sub 1 hr for Expert.

I'll be competitive. During the 2007 Mt Sac race. I finished 8th in my class(40-44 yrs old). My time was 1:16:43. The 35-39, 1st was 1:21:11.
I would have taken 1st by nearly 5 min that category. That was 18 miles and over 2600 ft of climbing. So us older guys can still ride.

Bummer is, that I work on Sun, Mon, Tue and Wed nights starting Sept 6th. I'll have to burn a vacation day to race Tues Sept 15th. Not sure I have any left. #-o

If I remember Gene correctly we rode singlespeed the day before Mt. Sac at Marshall Canyon, and then pre-road the course. That was dumb. 8th is great too at Mt. Sac b/c that race is sandbagging city trying to get those handmade trophys. You're still fast I'm sure.

Anyone know yet if the course will be the same for the 15th?

Unofficially I heard that the course will be the same for the next race but will be different for next year's race.

DO IT GENE! Come to the race, honestly we were done before you even have to go to work. You could of left straight from the race and made it to work on time...

Ya, I remember it well. I didn't plan on racing that day, but went to chear on. Instead I registered that morning. #-o I had tired legs and was happy with my time even though I didn't place.

I'll see about getting the day off cause I'd rather hang out afterwards and enjoy the festivities.

Maybe I should have sandbagged it and destroyed the beginner class. :-k

So far the course is the same. That will be one piece of logistics that they don't have to worry about for the moment. However, other options are being considered. ;)

Hey! That's my ass! JoJon I think your wife was getting a kick out of the hard time and good time my buddy and I were having with the EMT. He was a good sport. Not too many EMTs I know of would be happy to hear a group of guys telling them to give the patient a reach-a-round. (Oops! Sorry. This is a family-friendly site. I know.)

So a coupla things. A- To the rider that thought he belong in Sport and couldn't keep his bars straight and made the nice cut across right into mine--check beginner class and get to the back of the line please. And nice job making sure the 4 or 5 of us that you took out were OK. Really. I copied a bit out of my old high school physics text book on space and time. Specifically on the topic of other objects occupying the same space and time. Sorry, but you suck and you didn't belong up front. I'd love to know your finishing time. I guessing you were gassed at a quarter lap.

Sorry for the rant and sorry if that's too evil, but that was totally lame. Plus I'm still nursing my ass out of bed.

Anyway. To the guys running OTH, thank you! Thank you! Thank you! It's so cool to have a group of folks stepping up and leading in OC MTB racing. SHARE. Warriors. OTH. Tedro. (Who did I miss?) Just great to see this momentum. Keep it up!

I spent the better part of this year racing from Colorado to California and I have to give a special thanks and acknowledge the great talent we have here in OC for photographers. The images Eric and Jordan and a couple of others are producing are total keepers and I respect their talent and am very thankful for it being in our backyard. Thanks guys.

Thanks to the sponsors that made OTH possible (and mine). And definitely big "whoa, cool!" to everyone that lined up. Love it. Looking forward to 'cross coming up soon.

I believe they got a case of H2O Overdrive (at least 1st place did), and an Over the Hump Pint Glass. I don't know what else was in their SWAG bag.

...and the satisfaction of getting on the podium for this series' inaugural race.

Yeah - I was right behind you when you went down. Luckily I wasn't on your wheel, I was able to stop a good 4' before running into you. I didn't see how you actually fell, I was too concerned with the traffic to my left and right. But just before you went down there was a guy that passed my in an all out sprint and he was all over the place. He didn't come too close to me but he made me real nervous with how he was darting across the road trying to get his position. I'm sure it was the same guy who hit you.

Right after I came to a stop I turned around and gave a quick wave to try to signal to people behind me that riders were down. Not sure if it helped or not, but luckily the pileup wasn't worse, it certainly could have been with that many people.

I finished 4th in S-2 at around 51 minutes. I like to think I kicked the guy's *** who caused your fall.
