    Great days!

What a fantastic weekend at Vail Lake! Rain coming down in buckets today. Just makes all the trail work that much better! The course is going to be awesome!
We have a lot of great venders coming out to the June event.
    To name a few:
    Specialized - In force
    Russ Denny
    Form Cycles
    Intense Cycles
    Mountain Cycles
    Baja designs
    Pro Motion Sporstwear
    Canari
    Spinergy
    Cycopath

There are quite a few more. I am super excited to see our venue area growing. It shows a real interest in SoCal cycling from the Bike industry.

    Possible new sponsors:
    Chevrolet
    Giant RV

The Super D stage race registration is filling up nicely. I think we might max out for the first ever event on July 24th. I have been hammering out the Super D runs and they are set to be max fun!

    Anyways back to the weekend!

On their site is a reference to a "day use pass". So to summarize all charges a racer may incur : Is there a charge for entry? Parking?

Rules says EACH RACER SHOULD BRING ADEQUATE WATER FOR THE RACER OR TEAM. Is finding potable water difficult?

    Is a tail-light required?

Can you change bikes between laps?

    Hey Vail Newbie

    Good questions!

There is a $5 day fee. It gets you in and you can use all the amenities at Vail.

    There are no other fees.

You can purchase a $60 year pass.

I will have plenty of water and Hammer heed in coolers at the start finish for all racers. There will also be an aid station mid lap that will have Hammer gels, electrolytes, water and Hammer heed! I am thinking about having 2 aid stations. But one for sure!

No tail lights required. This will be one of the longest days of the year and lights will be minimal. Should be about 1.5 hrs of actual light usage. Time frame for Mandatory lights will be put out at the pre race briefing.

You can change bikes at any time of the race. As long as you are in the start finish area. In other words your buddy cant bring you a bike on the course.

Hope this helps! Have a great week!

    The Course

The course is semi marked! Ive had a lot of traffic with preriders. So I went ahead and marked the course last weekend. I its not fully race marked yet. But you shouldnt have a problems getting around. I'm heading out tomorrow to make sure things are still up. The best place to start from is the pool area. Make sure you head around towards the lake. You will see the first markings at the edge of the sandy wash!

    Hey Guys

I should be out there on Saturday! I will also be out tomorrow and friday. I will be updating the course markings. Some meatball keeps knocking down the markers. Anyways I will go out and get things in order for you all to come preride this weekend. By the way I have been riding out there all week and I gotta say this is a seriously fun course. I am not just saying that! It is super fun! I actually did 4 laps earlier this week. It takes a lot for me too do continual laps on any course. But I kept wanting to push it and see how fast I could go. Anyways I am excited to get this race underway.
Got an email from Tinker today. He plans on racing in June! That guy is so fast!:bang:

Vail Lake Closed To Mountain Bikers Memorial Day Weekend

Hi everyone, I arrived at Vail Lake to go riding this evening
only to find a sign saying "NO MOUNTAIN BIKING FRIDAY,SATURDAY AND SUNDAY" .:?:
I asked at the gate why this was and was told there would be too many children at the resort for the holiday weekend.
Just want to save someone a drive if they are planning a
    ride there this weekend.

A few friends and I are considering the race but never have before. What does it mean when it says "All race fees are based on a graduated scale".
    Then it list, Time 1, 2, 3.
    Thanks!

You get 20 bucks off for having a bachelors degree, 40 for a masters.

Not really, just means the earlier you register, the cheaper it is. Usually you have 10 bucks or so for registering a couple months ahead of time. This close to race day, you will pay full price.
