Happy New Year STR!

I could not think of a better way to kick off 2016 so I packed up my gear for a solo trail ride down the luge followed by my wingman the Yuneec Typhoon 4k Drone. Met some party goers at the flag! Overall the mission was accomplished. ;)

Sorry, but we just spent 2.5 minutes watching the side of a mountain, with an occasional view of the trail, and even less view of the riders. I'd be pretty disappointed if I spent the money on that and that was the result. Hopefully, it is just a setting that needs adjusting.

J your statement could be percieved as hyper-critical. Appreciate the feedback! Hope the ankle is doing well. Enjoy the new year.

All good.

Just seems like it would do a better job of keeping you on view. At least all the promos that showed something similar did.

Maybe if the trail wasn't so twisty/turny it may have been different.

IDK, I'm not up to date on drones and POV cams. Is this something that it just has to learn? Curious.

Sounds like a great idea, maybe just needs to be fine tuned.

Keep it up.

J it could be a couple factors that need to be considered via a patch or modification to the tracker to extend the range. The Wizard (GPS Tracker) has 3 functions Watch Me, Follow Me and Home. I still need to do another run with it to tell whether or not it's a software, hardware or user operated error. In any case, the opportunity to record your ride autonomously for < 25 minutes is pretty neat. Yuneec (Ontario, CA) product support is top-notch better than I have experienced with other products. Plus the chance to see the years of trail stewardship from Kioti and others is marvelous.

I dig the aerial shots. Pretty phenomenal. As an uneducated viewer, I did not like the frequent "blinking" or screen wipes. I agree with J, I'd like to see more trail and rider and a little less hillside too. But the artist gets to choose what to do and does not have to please us keyboard cowboys.

Looks like a great hobby with unlimited potential for fun. Anxious to see more.

Herzalot! Yeah well as mundane as some of us think of the trail... I wasn't about to let everyone in on my line down the luge. Haha. More to follow when it drys up. Hopefully less strobing for the epileptics. Haha ;)

Tip...with the Luge, since its pretty consistent and foliage free most of the way down, you should be able to set the flight follow function to be on a GPS straight line from the flag to the regroup spot after the little climb out. You should also be able to set the camera direction to follow your transponder.

For an auto-follow relative to your position on a trail like the luge, and keeping you in frame, it'd need to be within about 50-feet at all time and have collision avoidance protocols. Better video for more $$'s.

Thanks for the tip Dan. Intel is getting in the drone business large obstacle avoidance tech will soon be mainstream. 50 ft will give it a shot on a xc trail. It's more of an eyeball since there's no telemetry when using the wizard.
