Have Saints on all of my bikes...

I love the Saint cranks. They look bad ass, are super stiff, super easy to get on and off, weight's not too bad either. I have not had any problems with mine whatsoever (I have 5 sets).

As for the other Saint goodies, I just wouldn't run anything that is too proprietary--it just limits your options when you're in a jam. The performance of all the Saint products is superb, but going to a shop only to find they don't have that little special Shimano doodad that is keeping you from going on a ride is f**ked.

The new group looks super sick though, and appears to have fewer proprietary goodies. Fit and finish is fantastic, too.

Shimano's Angular contact bearings are far, far better at handling side impact, and load than traditional cartridge bearings. They are matched to the races that they contact, and last far longer than cartridge bearings. So, what makes them crap???? Although centerlock rotors are proprietary, they do have their benefits, like not being bent out of the box, like half of the avid and Hayes rotor's I have installed. Centerlock also eliminates up and down variances that you have with all six bolt rotors.

I liked the saint cranks and ran them with 2 rings and a bash. The only downside is not the weight but the black finish which rubs off quite easily. I wound up going to the 08 XT for this reason but hardly noticed the difference in weight with the same level of stiffness.

The new Saint and SLX cranks differ from XT with a reenforced spider and stouter (thicker walled) arms. As an added bonus the new saint has some bling gold BB shells.

To answer your question there is not much difference with the hone stuff the deciding factor for me was the Saint was (at the time) the most friendly set for ankle gouging. If you run clipless you may not worry about any of this but thats my two cents.

All the rotors I have seen so far are 8", and I was wonddering if they make 6"? (what I have seen so far on ebay )

I could be wrong, but I don't think those will work. My understanding is that Saint hubs use an oversized centerlock and have no adapters for it. If I recall correctly if you have Saint hubs then you must use Saint centerlock rotors. Even Shimano XT/XTR rotors will not work on them.
