badass. now if they would incorporate all the lovely changes they did on the carbon one (adjustable travel, geometry, 20mm longer large :bang:, and the 1.5 HT) in a more cost-effective aluminum beater, I think I'd be set.

I wouldn't mind the carbon one either, but I'd definitely wait to hear what all the rich kids on pinkbike end up doing to theirs...

    Trickle down

I would like to see that as well, Trickle down those adjustments to an aluminum version. They've already done similar things to the other frames.

Maribor is in two weekends. Can't wait to see how the Syndicate will do. If you just heard a description of their bikes, doesn't strike you as a DH at first: carbon frame, carbon wheels, air shock, air fork.

    Very Exciting News....

    1. It will only take a few month for the everyone to learn how strong carbon is (in real world conditions)
*MTBR/RideMonkey animals will do their best to break them (i.e. Carbon Nomads)

    2. A lightweight DH bike.... OMG! The Holy Grail of fun!

    3. More than one manufacturer has confirmed that carbon will be found on their boutique frames in the very near future!

    4. If Santa Cruz' experiment proves successful, competitors will accept carbon- and fast!

    5. Price... Keeping fingers crossed they "shock the world" by keeping prices reasonable
(same price/a few bucks more than the current V-10)!

Carbon fiber for a DH/FR frame?

Sorry to be a retro-grouch, but...

No thanks (and while we're at it, i'll add hydro-formed tubes). I've seen too many failures with cf (many of them catastrophic) to trust it as a frame material.

Give me straight tubing... large gauge, with beefy welds and gussets. My Uzzi-VPX frame is well-nigh indestructible.

Okay boys, play nice!!! ;) No kicking sand!

"Santa Cruz are keen to point out that this is not an official bike launch as such. Joe Graney continues the story before we head off up the hill. “We’ve still got some way to go. It’s not signed off yet. If it was all done the guys would just go and be racing it. That’s why we are all here to work through things and get some quality testing done. Everyone seems pretty stoked though even after just a day.”

So only the front end is carbon.....rear swingarm is aluminum....same as the Driver 8....maybe this will help keep the price down.

I am not a fan of carbon but that bike looks amazing! Also the geo looks spot on, it will be added to the short list for my new frame purchase later this summer.
