    A NEW oil leak sprung up in the Gulf of Mexico after a boat struck an oil well this morning a Homeland Security director has confimed. ​

    A tugboat or workboat collided with the well, shearing off its valve structure and releasing pressurised natural gas and light oil, Deano Bonano told Fox News.
    Oil is spewing about 20 feet in the air from the severed four-inch pipe, a contractor said. The area has been evacuated and civilian boats are being told not to enter the scene, the contractor said.
    Clean-up workers are currently using boom to contain the spill, and the scene at sea has been taken over by federal agents. A contractor who handles wild wells is also on the way, Mr Bonano said.
    Federal officials do not know who owns the well.
