You are no longer a newb when...

1) When you put together an annual training program with the goal of "peaking"

2) When your training program is so detailed you set it up to "peak" twice in a year.

3) When a home insurance appraiser appraises your stock of bikes as more valuable that your wife's stock of jewelry (and she has a sh!t load of it gold and diamonds).

4) When you pick riding your bike on a Sunday morning instead of a morning in bed with your wife.

 

...when you realize it's all about riding and not the kind of bike you or anyone else is on.

 

When the burn starts to feel good, and you are like "WTF, I thought I hated climbing".

When you go on a road trip and bring multiple bikes 'just in case'.

 

when you get a sprocket tattooed to your a$$

I'm still a newb...

 

When you are flying (in a jet) over mountains and hills and you see all the trails and dirt roads etched into the landscape. You wonder where they go and what they're like and you dream of being on them.

 

ahhh...NO. I think maybe that's where I draw the line.

 

1. when you stop caring about getting blood on the sheets.

(i think i stole this from darin this weekend, but if he's not gonna use it...)

B. when you stop caring about missing the "big game" on tv.

(there's always espn highlights)

 

We have a Quicken cycling category and sub categories, it's the yearly total that scares me!!! I guess that's why we only have 1 habit now!!!

Checking the STR boards is part of your morning routine.

2) When you see a vehicle on the freeway with bikes and you find yourself weaving in and out of traffic to get a closer look

 

Every time I fly to Oakland on Southwest you come over the Diablo / Coast Range....I image myself riding those hills and trails...there is even a peak with a cool name...Copernicus Peak

 

When you can go out for a long ride and never touch the ground with your feet.
