:?: Not trying to speak for Scott/B5Driver, but he's one of the nicest guys I've ever ridden with. I'm sure he meant it as a joke.
I thought I was the nice guy?! Seriously though... The guy is almost scary he's so nice. Kinda freaks me out.
Not down on you. Sorry if I made you feel that way. I was just trying to think of a way to get a frame on the cheap and in general just joking around. You do share the name of my youngest daughter so you can't be that bad and she likes bikes too.
Just curious how you make enough $$$ for all these sweet rides and still somehow "qualify" for the Economic Stimulus cash???:?:
Bank robbery. Seriously though. I work part time at a shop and have been lucky finding good deals as well --I acquired my Haro BMX bike through a source at Haro. --The Mavic wheels and entire Campy Chorus build on my road bike was given to me, all I had to do was provide the frame and fork ($200 Scattante at PooFormance). --I got a screaming deal on the Yeti through someone here on the board. --My SS was built up over the course of several months, which helped spread the cost out. --I paid all of $60 for my 29er frame at Jenson's parking lot sale last year. I sold stuff I bought on the cheap at the sale for a profit which helped finance the build. The shop discount really helped with the rest of the build. Ended up costing me less than $300 total. --The entire build of my '92 Trek "nostalgia build" was given to me by a friend. The frame cost me $30 on Ebay. --My Trek 4500 HT is 6 years old. It's not that hard to do if you save and plan for it. Working at a shop sure helps though. However, MTB'ing is my ONLY hobby, that's where all my money goes. I have golf clubs sitting in my garage I haven't used in over 3 years--'cuz $50 a round is too expensive. I'd rather save it for bike stuff. I don't play video games or own a game console--$20-$60 per game and $200 and up for a console adds up. I drive a generic Ford SUV I haven't done anything to. My dad gives me crap over it, while he owns 2 expensive laptops, has custom wheels and stereo system on his Mustang GT, is a musician and owns (I kid you not) 12+ guitars---and he gives me crap about owning 8 bikes. I know people that have nicer cars with custom wheels and stereos, people that own XBOX 360's with 40 games, people that golf 3-5 times a month--and they all razz me about how many bikes I own. When you do the math, it's really not that different. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not hating. Whatever anyone spends their $$ on is their own business. More power to them. But it can be done if you cut costs here and there.
Wow, I was kinda just kidding, but that's a damb good explination! Well done and good luck getting that rear replaced, it sounds like you have already got it covered though.
LOL. I was sitting here eating my lunch and figured I had nothing else better to do, so I layed it all out there. Well, I actually bought it out of the back of a truck with the engine running, in an alley. He said he worked for Haro. :?:
that sounds like the guy i got my new reign from. he said his boss bought too many... gaint reign sounds like it might rhyme with chocolate rain giant reign
That's it. You're going down. I'm flattered, I've been called many things, but sensitives never been one of them!
