You are absolutely correct! Iron Horse bikes are not meant for "real" trails!!! Wanna know what they are meant for? 1) WINNING!!! 2006 and 2007 Men's and Women's DH World Champion's ride IH! Junior World Champion's Ride IH!!! Countless World Cup events have been won by IH riders! Julia12 rode an Iron Horse Azure to a 1st Place Title in her first EVER 4X event!!! Etc. Etc. Etc. 2) The owner and employees of a certain BIKE SHOP *choose* to ride IH 6 Point's/7 Point's and Sunday's rather than the BOUTIQUE frames they sell! Interesting....:-k 3) Countless well respected STR members try (in vain) to destroy their "WalMart" Bikes! Ain't gonna happen Junior! 4) Ahh forget it, the UCLA game is on! Sorry to hear about the Yeti!
That was an '02 frame.....much more abuse plus Turner is THE best company to deal with when it comes to warranty stuff
Me too. Deb on 2 other machines. Anyway, don't take it personally or seriously. I just had about 90 digs left on the mayor there.
It was a major bummer though. This was my first ride on my new TALAS 36RC2 fork. I got in some decent mileage on it looping BLT at the top of the mountain--before the descent. What I did experience I was very impressed by. Unfortunately, I was really looking forward to putting it to the test on the downhill the most. Oh well. What are you gonna do? Here's a few pics of the new fork hotness:
Don't let a couple failures keep you away from Yeti. Hang out long eneough at any dealer and you'll see that all frames can and will break. Just part of riding.
I broke an original 2003 5-Spot that had 10s of thousands of miles on it. It was my only bike for years. All bikes break, it is how the company treats ya after you break one. That is why many of us are loyal to Turner. None of that not intended use stuff...like: did you have a oversized fork, where you dropping 6 ft to flat...ect. After the break I upgraded to a RFX. I hope they are fast getting you a new rear triangle. I am sure there will be no problems. Dean
Very appropriate picture, its brand new and already on a work stand... Frames break all the time. No matter what make. What is strange is that my Ellsworthless 05' Id has yet to break and it has well over 10miles on it!! Can you believe it?? *knocks on beer can thin downtube*
that's because the extra coats of paint from the custom flame job are holding the welds together:wave:
Sorry to hear about the break Doug. From the threads on emptybeer where there were similar problems Yeti took care of the problems no questions asked. Seth seems to be a pretty good guy to deal with so hopefully you'll get the replacement quickly.
Damn, d00d...does someone have a voodoo bike doll for your bike out there and they're sticking needles in it?! Seriously, though, this is a bummer. You know Yeti'll take care of you, though.
Echoing what others have said: Any frame can be broken, just as any shop can make a mistake. It's how the shop or manufacturer deals with it that really proves their worth. Yeti, Turner, and a few others have excellent reputations because as PacMan's already experienced once, they stand behind their stuff without hesitation. Seeing an occasional frame break wouldn't necessarily keep me from buying that brand unless it's a trend. Seeing the company stand behind their stuff without hesitation would definitely move them to the top of my list as people I'd want to do business with. PacMan, I hope you'll keep us posted on how Yeti reponds.
