Yet another Garmin Edge question

Well, my 205 is really giving me headaches.

Even with a full battery charge, it switches off during rides and won't communicate with the Geoagent software for upload to GL. I know it's the Garmin and not my software because I rode wearing my Garmin Forerunner on the bike setting today and it worked fine, and the Forerunner interfaces with Geoagent perfectly.

So after reading a bunch of previous posts, I think the Edge needs a 'hard' reset. The problem is when I press and hold 'mode' and 'reset' for 3 seconds and longer, the unit immediately goes dark. When I turn it back on, the ride history is still there so I know the reset is not taking. Anyone ever have this happen? Is there another way to do a hard reset or am I looking at having to warranty the thing? Thanks in advance for any help!

 

Not sure about the 205, but maybe something in this thread will give you an idea. I haven't read everything, but I know there's lots of helpful info on that thread.
