About the fork: That fork has been the best performing fork I've ever owned. Even Marzocchi loyalists (I'm not brand loyal), when they feel it, are very impressed with how it feels on the trail (though they are skeptical it will last.) Some are actually amazed as if they are under some kind of illusory spell. (A Manitou! it can't feel that good?)

The fork is TPC+ damping and I've had it for two years. I change the oil once a year and that is it. That being said, until Manitou/Hayes has a record of QC consistency as it did in the late 90's, early 00's, I wouldn't recommend buying one but mine has been stellar. I'd be interested to hear DB's input since Intense is spec'd with Manitou products now.

Another option is the Cannondale Perp. 180mm or 200mm of travel.

Which way do you have the arrow facing? Then again I run some Hutchinson backwards for a couple rides before I noticed. The DH32 has such meaty no ramped knobs the direction isn't as important as something with a ramp.

Either way your AS-X looks awesome!

Thanks again Scott. Those tires are 3 lbs each! I removed the rear and put on a Kenda Nevegal 2.35 that I've had for awhile. I am running the Nevegal with the arrow forwards and the front Michy backwards. I dunno, it's so hard to tell when I'm pushing the bike and it gives way, is it me? or is it the tire? So, just to be sure I'm doing everything that I hear guys who ride better than me do or at least know the tire better than me.

Is it a myth as Disco says? Maybe?? I probably wouldn't ride any better if it was the other way anyway seeing I've done both. Eh. #-o

The Perp? never even thought of a cannondale. I'll keep all my options open, thanks.

What are you riding now? I haven't kept up. I only know you sold the ASX. You were the only guy I knew that was running a Roco on his ASX. The Roco has been great BTW, it is a RC World Cup.

tom (5 a.m. and I'm at work WT!!)

    Tom-

Bought an Enduro about a year ago for everyday riding since the AS-X was a bit small for pedaling. Then sold the AS-X to finance a downhill bike, Devinci Wilson. I'm kinda wishing I had a true FR bike. 7" of travel with a FD. The Devinci is fun but can't be pedaled up at all.

ROCO on the ASX was awesome. Huge difference over the 5th it replaced.

I don't have much time on the DH32. It is so big it would work well in rocks. For loose stuff I really like the Hutchinson Barracudas. They work really well at Big Bear.

    Bought an Enduro.

Which prompted me to sell the ASX.

And finally pieced this together. Amazing the deals that can be had on closeout items. Whole bike was about $1800. Frame and fork were brand new.

Nice bike.. and a sick set up... I am not a fan of Manipoo but I had a Travis single on my ASX with the Rocco as well and it was Butter all over the place...

That is the one bike that I sold that I do regret letting go of... I keep thinking about building another one

Enjoy your new toy time to get it dirty

Tom, it looks great. Does Olympic have a website? Do you know if they strip and polish frames in addition to the powder coating?

Thanks! Yea, Olympic, stripped, powder coated, and clear coated the frame for $90.00. I'm sure they can strip it to raw and then you can apply some polish if they don't.

Thanks! Do you remember when my head badge arrived when you were over?? heh, heh (i love the Yeti head badge)
