I know that its possible. But I could use tips on the installation, if there are issues?

    I'm running 185 front and 160 back.

Ive got a set of the M785s, I can't buy the rotors just yet.

    Thanks.

Been running Hayes rotors on older XT brakes on my wife's Blur LT without any problems.

I don't think it's a problem. You can run M785's with the standard Shimano rotors so I don't see where there would be an issue. It's a little tougher to run other brakes with the Ice Tech rotors since they have a thicker spider section, but I think you'll be fine.

I'll be on icetechs in the future. For now, this will work.

I ran them that way for a couple years. They worked fine, though I got a fair amount of noise even with organic pads. I recently switched to Shimano rotors and so far they've been much quieter. My Avid rotors may have become contaminated in some way though; I tried various ways to recondition them, but the noise kept coming back. I'd be very interested in a long-term update on how this combo works for you.
