I just picked up a set of XT brakes, M875, and it turns out the set I have are not Ispec compatible. WTF? Now I don't have a way of attaching my shifter pods, which are Ispec and worked just fine on my SLX brakes. Not good. Thinking I might be making a stop at Shimano's offices tomorrow.

Shimano no longer does an I-spec brake lever due to a patent dispute with SRAM. This information came from my buddy who works for Shimano. I, like you, found out the hard way. I was able to find an older set of XT brakes to work with my I-spec shifters.

I would contact the Authorized Shimano Dealer where you bought them and see if they can help you through their Shimano Representative...
From what I found online they made it so the the old style brakes would work with the new style shifters but not the other way around. Your best bet is to call Shimano
