XC Ride Saturday Aug. 7 - Caballero --> Hub --> Santa Monica Mtns --> ???

I'll be doing a ride Saturday morning starting from Caballero to the Hub and to wherever from there. Ride will be start at 8am and finished by 12pm. I haven't gone past the Hub yet so I'm not sure exactly where to go but if you a trail to ride that can have us back by 12pm I'm open to suggestions. Meet at 7:30am at Reseda and where the Caballero trail is.

I honestly have no idea what that is. I haven't explored in this area before. I just heard you can get to the beach or to some ocean view place. I'd like to make it there or something.

 

hey mike... If plans open up.. I'll be glad to show you the trails n4th mentioned.. Great views, fun jumps and techy dh.

 

I have some people that might be coming that aren't technical riders but if those trails are for everyone I'm down with it.

 

We're leaning towards Up Cabby to Eagles Rock to PMO. About 24 miles, 3K Climbing

Where's Cabby? We usually park where Caballero starts and climb up the street to the hub and take Caballero back down to dump us at the cars.

would y'all ever so kindly give details on the route y'all settled in on? Like..
ride duration
climb factor (steep, long, mellow, footage?)
dh factor (tech, gnar, rolling, mellow)

I *might* be able to join (if that's ok) depending.

Also, where is that trail head? I'd be coming from Pasadena...

 

^^ Exit Reseda, head south to the end (big hill -- homes on the right, creek valley on the left), Cab is on the left. Have phun.

N4th flyin' down the Backbone Trail (accessed from The Hub):

1) Route: Up Cabby: At the top of Cabby we take a right and head up to the HUB. At the HUB, We take a right, climb UP the small hill towards the bench on the left and ride to Eagles Rock. This continues to Trippet Ranch where we will rest before the remaining part of the climb. At this point we head up to PMO (Parker Mesa Overlook). We will end at the bench at the overlook. This will be an out and back. If we have time and are not too tired, we can go down the 1st part of Roger's Road as well.
2) Ride Stats: Without Roger's it's about 23 miles and 3K of climbing. With the exception of Cabby, it's all fire road, you can use a HD. Not techy at all. Cabby is a tough climb and technical in sections, but only 2 miles long and you get it over with from the beginning.
3) Take Reseda Blvd and cross Ventura blvd. Follow Reseda until you get to the Cabby trail head on the left. You will see a ton of cars there. If you have a radio, wear it and put it on 5.25.
