Ride Report XC CHIX Hit Keystone

We decided to take a rest day by hitting the bike park at Keystone. Y'know, nothing hard. Just hit the lift up and poodle on down. 35 bucks get you an all day pass.
At first we rode a green trail all the way down. What an embarrassing thing to admit to but HEY, we are on XC bikes with itsy bitsy travel.
The green trails are pretty dull though.
We didn't really know what to expect to be honest.
So we caught the lift up again and rode a green to a blue which was waay more fun and technical.
Then somehow we ended up on a double black diamond that was really fun to walk. "Hey Jeanine, catch my bike!"
Still, there had to be something better than the blues but not as bad as the double blacks!
Really, there were only two or three blue trails on the whole mountain and that's just not enough! We decided to take a chance on a single black diamond trail!
YES!!! That was very fun and way more our speed considering the bikes we were on. Big on tech but not severe, challenging and fun!
Beth (madame Dabalot) surprised herself by cleaning some stuff she never would have tried had she not seen us do it! She was great and only screamed twice!
Jeanine was fearless hitting bridges and skinnies and dropping rocks like she had been doing it forever.
Unfortunately, she went down twice and hurt her ankle but it seems ok now.
She got two front tire flats and I think the first flat contributed to her crash.
One trail we did had 22 table top jumps and berms! It was so fun. WE rolled them but we had some speed going, just not catch air speed! It was all a blast!
I finally over came my fear of riding ramps a bit. Took awhile to get started but soon I was riding them without stopping! How's that Craig and Scott?
We did 30 miles and are now exhausted. We have a big day tomorrow doing a ride called Two Elks out of Vail.
I'm glad we are all in one piece and yes, I wish I'd had a All Mountain Bike for sure.

 

XC Gals Part two

It just amazes me some of the stuff these people can ride.
The photo of the drop must be 20 feet down and then another photo shows a chewed up trail that then ends at a cliff that then drops to a ramp 15 feet below!!
I cleaned it!!:bang: J/K!! :lol:
We thought it would be a nice easy day of going down but it kicked our butts!

Great photos and good on ya for handling the techie stuff. Skinnies blow my mind even when they're a foot off the ground. Keystone looks fun - I'll have to hit it next year. Your crew did great!
