After 2 years plus I finally got the notorious ring of death, microsoft sent me a box with foam, tape and return label in 3 days! Not bad, but how long does it take to get back to me? I'm having Call of Duty W@W withdrawals... can't wait for Modern Warfare 2, it should be sick....er!

A buddy of mine sent his in just after Christmas and it took almost six weeks to get it back. I did'nt want to wait so I bought another 360.

Fixing the Red rings of death is not that hard at all, I did it with a visit to my local hardware store.

Its quite simple if you can handle a Philips screwdriver and a Flathead. All you need to do is disassemble the xbox and remove the old Heat sink clamps that hold it to the CPU. Replace those with screws and nuts to hold it in add a little thermal paste tighten up your heat sink and blammo done! All you gotta do is turn on the xbox and leave it there for a couple of mins for the board to bend back into place and it should be working fine.

I've repaired my two 360's and couple of my friends with this method and we have yet to see the Red rings of death error again.
