X7 shifters with XTR derailer

A buddy tweeked the derailer and hanger on his '05 Heckler. He has an old XTR derailer but we don't know if it will work with his X7 shifters? (If it doesn't then this is also a WTB thread.) Either way he will need a new hanger also, so if anyone has one or knows a good place to get one? - Thanks

 

Sram does not work with Shimano. Swing by a shop and pick up another X-7 or an X-5 if that is too expensive.

 

Sram X series shifters will not work with Shimano rear derailuers.

 

sram is 1:1 pull
shimano is : 2:1 pull

For starters, don't drop your request randomly into an unrelated thread.

As for the original question, some Sram shifters work with Shimano rear derailleurs. Sram's Attack shifters will, but the X series (XO, X9, X7) do not.

Any Sram shifters will work with Shimano front derailleurs, and Shimano's FD's seem to have a much better reputation than Sram's.

 

Thanks guys, I put up a WTB post. Then it is off to the LBS. We'll have to order a hanger either way.
