Got a chance to ride last Friday with the SC Dirtbags up in Wrightwood. It had been quite a while since I rode up in the mountains, let alone anyplace green and with trees and shade. Palmdale was green for exactly 3 weeks and 4 days this year before it abruptly turned brown (or burned). We cheated and shuttled up to the top of Blue Ridge, which was great since it allowed maximimum ST enjoyment without being whipped at the end of the day. Started out with Blue Ridge Trails then over to Jackson Trails. Middle Jackson trail is amazing - even though I'm not so good on exposed stuff in my old age it was a flowy blast under the trees with some beautiful views. Perfect temp (max 84*) with slight breeze and a few fluffy white clouds in a cobalt sky. Here are a few pics from random points in the ride. I'll let scottay, Maddog, Hill^Billy, or J-Chap add some story line if they have time. Running out of time to post these at lunch so don't have time to put in order. I know scottay got some pretty good video of middle Jackson... Fire crew taking a break at Jackson Group Camp: Lazy boy recliner Getting ready to launch into one of the Jackson trails Bottom of Blue Ridge I think.. Scottay and Maddog Jackson Lake picnic area (at the end of the ride waiting for return of shuttle vehicle) Hill^Billy says "ain't this the Sh1t"!!! Yep, it sure is Palmdale the next day (for contrast)
A 12 min. vid of one of the trails. Use the "gear" icon on the lower right hand corner and up it to 720p HD for better clarity..... . https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwCEQ5bshqhhQ1pRTU1qY1ZvVTg/edit?usp=sharing
And here is one of the upper trails. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwCEQ5bshqhhV1NCSndVcEVFdGc/edit?usp=sharing . .
The only thing I will add is, perfect day, great company, this is some high quality ST. Just what I needed after Kokopelli!
And the middle part, for your morning viewing pleasure! https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwCEQ5bshqhhVDNUV2ptUEZSMk0/edit?usp=sharing
For your viewing information, Scottay is flying on a HT. Vid is a little bumpy but that is why. I could NEVER ride a HT that fast with all that exposure, not that I would want to.
