Bring your lights that is one long climb. I have heard that the locals sometimes lock the Toll Road Gate at Pinecrest Drive maybe the OTB boys can give you a updated info on that.

Watch two hour parking signs on parts of Crescent drive. Watch out for unbagged dog poop on trail edges btween henninger and the bottom. Bell highly advised on downhill from henninger. Have fun- it'd mandatory

Other than the parking restrictions I would say dress warm and do bring a light. The temperature will drop fast once the sun goes down. It's currently 40 degrees up there.
From the Pinecrest entry you can expect an 8 mile climb to the Mt. Wilson Trail. They do lock the gate after dark.

    Hope that helps

I'd like to this weekend but I'm not sure what the weather's going to do. They're calling for rain. Not that I put a whole lot of faith in SoCal meteorologists.

Assuming the weather cooperates, Chantry or the San Juan Trail would be an option or if someone's feeling especially adventurous, Chilao is open.

Basically I don't care. Just give me some dirt and a few feet of visibility and I'm good to go. :)

I also heard there's a possibility of the Angeles Crest Highway opening to Mt. Wilson near the end of this month. That would give us a shuttle run option. Boy is THAT overdue!

As long as you're descending the toll rd, you'll be fine with lights. But I'd not go down the trail (Wilson) at night.

Update: The Toll Road gate is now closed indefinitely due to new slides.

Rode Chantry Flats Yesterday. Parked at Chantry, Upper Winter Creek up to Manzinata Ridge To the Toll Road up to Wilson. There was some snow at the top and the toll road was freshly graded. The water crossings were friendly and the DH down Sturavaunt was great. wheel-of-fortune-win-tap-hoes.jpg elevator.jpg jacuzzi-fail.jpg evil wolf kids.jpg blue toung.jpg path4.jpg emtrapment gear.jpg death from below.jpg puppy-win-hump-funny.jpg trooper breakfast.jpg the green.jpg r-crumb.jpg falls drop.jpg tooth paster.jpg
