Will my Deore M530 Rear Derail work with deore Lx or Xt shifters?

    planning to convert my 8speed into a 9 speed mtb. i bought a shimano deore rear derailleur. curious if the shifters would have to by shimano deore also. and what about deore xt and lx? Thanks:?:

    Yes it will work its a 8/9 sp RD. What RD did you have before? In most cases to go from 8sp to 9sp is a cassette chain and shifter.

    i had a deore lx, its pretty old.

    Depends how old is pretty old it may be better then a new deore RD.

    yeah prob, but i already purchased it. im a bike newbie.. all i need is a chain, cassettes, and shifters.

    You will need a 9 speed chain, cassette and rear shifter.

    2:1 ratio is 2:1 ratio. Like Mfoga said, you need a chain a casette and a rear shifter.
