I need to shorten my rear brake cable for a new set of Shimano XT hydraulic brakes. Any tips would be great.

Can I use any mineral oil to fill and bleed them?
    Thanks!

    NO!

The viscosity's are waaaaay different. Shimano makes mineral oil, and its cheap. Go to LBS and buy some ;)

Drug store stuff is INSANELY thicker, and if you were to bleed them with that, it may take a few seconds for your levers to return....
    and you will die.
