Do you know how small tubes in wide tires affects the footprint or the volume casing? I did a side by side comparison, one with 2.35 tire w/ 1.9-2.1 tubes and one with 2.1 tire w/ 1.9-2.1 tubes, and they both look identical in size. I bought wider tires so I can have a wider footprint but if they are identical, then what's the point?

Not all tires are accurately represented by their size. I have a WTB Mutano Raptor 2.4 that should measure nearly 61mm. It only measures 56. I also have a Tioga Psycho Genius that is a 2.3 and it measures 60mm. Also, some measurements are for the casing (sidewalls) and others are for the knobs. Thats all said, i use 26x2.1-2.5 tubes in my 29x2.4 high volume tire (61mm). I've even used some 26x2-2.25 tubes in the same tire. They are stretchy... only issue is that they may puncture easier by thinning out the walls from airing up more. I put Slime in most of mine.
