Great report and photos! Thanks for putting it up.

We need to get you and your camera up to North Ventura County and the upper Ojai/Nordhoff/Los Padres area: some of these epic rides need epic photos taken!

Could prob bring it up to 10 miles without too much of an issue.

I have a 15-20 mile loop I ride out there. You doubleback on a few trails, but not all. Most trails in Wildwood are short, but run all together it's good long ride. If anyone is interested let me know and we can put a weekend ride together out there.

HAH! Judging by the shadows, looks like we had the same idea but off by a couple hours! I was there yesterday morning, betting we jussst missed each other by the time I was heading out! I was actually gonna do Space Mountain then changed my mind at the last minute.
Here's a couple that I shot that pale in comparison:

You can see this backdrop in more than a couple old westerns. I can't recall which ones but I know The Duke filmed here.

Quite well actually. Majority of the trails face south (towards the sun) so it dries up fairly quick. Only the lower trails down in the canyons take a lil longer bc of all the trees/shade.
Only problem was that last train of storms that came through left some crazy ruts right smack in the middle of the descending trails! Top layer washed away too leaving lots of lava rock types exposed.
Still a very fun trail system...just a bit bumpier than it was the last time I was there before the storms.

re: Brewtal's ridge photo. You can ride to there from Cal Lutheran and descend switchbacks to Shudder's plateau.

From the other side of the canyon you can look down onto the waterfall route.

Ya know, I keep looking up that way and think "I have to try that someday." then, never do. Which really makes no sense considering how small the area is. There's a lot of areas there I have yet to explore actually. I think I may need to plan a ride there with the intent of riding all the spots I have not yet ridden. Think I'll do that this coming Tuesday :-k
