Has anyone ridden these trails in Big Bear? I'm looking at these as part of a bikepacking route I'm planning.

Looking at my Frankos map I'm thinking of riding 2N21 to where it turns into Sugarloaf Nat' Rec. Trail and then up to the top of Sugarloaf, then down to Wildhorse Creek trail. From there do the complete sart trail.

Looking for trail descriptions and opinions of the trail.

    Thanks

you think that I'd know this after living there 18yrs of my life. but I don't.
    On a connected subject:
I've now linked from the San Clemente Pier/SCST, through Caspers, to Santa Rosa Plateau, across the town of wildomar to Diamond valley lake/Hemet. (Without hitting SJT :?:Howd da' do' dat?;))

All it takes now is a couple fools to go pre-ride the route.

I've done it twice. Last time was about 2 years ago. Topping out at 9948' on Sugarloaf is a fine 360° view. I believe the route you mentioned is what we did. The Wildhorse trail is an AM whoopAss fun run. Very "primative" in some areas, yet some areas are groomed like a golf green.... go figure?!?!?

When we hit the hwy we rode down the assfault for a few miles (the section of SART that parallels is a sandy run just not worth it). Then jumped into the SART for the remaining 14 miles of hill hugging trail to Angeles Oaks and pedal up that SOB hill to the parking area. Our shuttle started there. I imagine this would be an allright time of year until it snows. Top of SugLoaf will no doubt be snappy cold this time of the year.
